Looking to sell? Make sure you are prepared so you can get the highest offer!
No matter what your item is that you intend to bring in to sell or pawn, the more you know about it the better. To go one step further, the more you have in writing about the items value even better still.
We may have things in our possession such as antique jewelry, watches, collectibles, firearms, musical instruments, or other interesting tchotchkes that we believe have value. But value is in the eye of the beholder and in the belief of what someone else might be willing to pay for them.
When selling (or pawning) your hope is to get the highest price possible. As a pawnbroker, we also want to be able to offer that to you. In order to do that we have to know the going market price they are selling for as if sold to us it will take its place in the showroom for sale, and should you pawn it, while we hope you come back in, pay off the loan, and reclaim, there is always the chance of default and we have to be able to recoup our investment.
Before you sell or pawn – Do some digging
Check out online shopping sites and see what your item is going for new as well as used. Sites like Ebay, Craigslist, find an antique appraiser, a jewelry appraiser, and even a gun shop. Ask questions, take pictures of signs and ads, if you have certifications for items make sure to bring them as well as they add to the perceived value.
The more you know about the history of an item the better. Providence counts!
One very helpful interesting site is called What Sells Best – You can find pricing on art, coins, antiques, and even cars. https://www.whatsellsbest.com/
There are also lots of specific databases online – search things like “Pocket watch database” and see what you can find for your old time piece.
If you have the box, bring all parts and pieces including cords, certifications, it all adds to the offer.
